Summer School

A summer school in European intellectual property law has been held successfully at the CEIPI since 2009. The 2021 edition will take place online from 28 June to 09 July 2021.

OVERVIEW

Unique in Europe and in the world, this Summer School offers a two-week course of theoretical and practical training for both scientific and legal backgrounds. The course is divided into two parts, the first one devoted to the existence of intellectual property rights (IPRs) and the second one revolving around the exercise of IPRs.Participants will also be able to build on the knowledge acquired during the various workshops.

Prior to the start of the Summer School, participants will have access to pre-recorded lectures. These dynamic short videos aim to convey to participants the general principles and core concepts of intellectual property in Europe.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The Summer School aims at providing a general overview of the intellectual property in the context of the European Union’s legal system, and likewise, to bring practical solutions in regard to intellectual and industrial property rights litigation in Europe. The course is addressed especially to students and practitioners willing to gain a solid background in European and international intellectual property law.

All participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of attendance. Attendance and active participation in at least 80% of the program is required.

LECTURERS

The lecturers are selected from the academic staff of CEIPI, from experts in the intellectual property field, including professors and experienced practitioners but also official representatives, examiners, members of opposition chambers and so on.

ELIGIBILITY

The course is open to professionals in the field of intellectual property law, but also to researchers as well as to European and non-European lawyers, whether or not specialised in IP law. As the whole course is taught in English, a good command of the language is required. Students from all over the world are welcome to register.

REGISTRATION FEES

  • 1 500 € TTC early bird for all registrations until 18 June 2021
  • 1 800 € TTC for all registrations from 19 June 2021
