The CEIPI had the pleasure of welcoming an international roundtable on the topic: “Intellectual property and access to science and culture: convergence or conflict?”, which was held on May 11, 2015 at CEIPI.

The speakers included: Mr. Christophe Geiger, Director General of CEIPI; Mr. Carlos Correa, Professor at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Ms. Rochelle Dreyfuss, Professor at the New York University School of Law, United States; Ms. Lea Shaver, Associate Professor at Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law, United States; Ms. Rebecca Giblin, Associate Professor at the Monash University, Faculty of Law, Australia; Ms. Frédérique Berrod, Professor at the University of Strasbourg; Ms. Peggy Ducoulombier, Professor at the University of Strasbourg; Ms. Mylène Bidault, Human Rights officer at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), United Nations, Switzerland.

The topic of this roundtable stemmed from the recent Report and ongoing work of the Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights, Mrs. Farida Shaheed (http://www.ceipi.edu/index.php?id=14302&L=2#c65705). Several speakers at the roundtable have participated in the designing of this Report and they presented the conclusions and follow-up thereof to the many participants who attended the event.
