CEIPI Summer School on IP in Europe
For the third year, CEIPI is organizing a Summer School on IP in Europe. The courses will be held from July 4 to July 9, 2011.
This course seeks to present a global view of the European intellectual property system through a theoretical and practical approach. It is designed for students and legal professionals hoping to acquire a broad grounding in European intellectual property law.

Become European Patent Attorney with the CEIPI
CEIPI's job and internship offers
CEIPI is looking for a Head of International Cooperation, responsible for proposing, defining and implementing the European and/or international cooperation policy of the CEIPI in education and research.
CEIPI is recruiting a Post-doctoral legal scholar specialized in intellectual property with a French and/or international background. The successful candidate is expected to actively take part in ongoing research at the CEIPI, especially in the framework of European and international research projects.
We are also looking for a graduate (Master 2 or LLM) in the field of innovation law and the economics of intellectual property and for a legal scholar with a Master 2 or LL.M. in intellectual property law.
Finally, the CEIPI is looking for a legal intern expected to advance the educational ans resarch missions of the CEIPI.

Enrolment to the Master of Intellectual Property Law and Management (MIPLM)
Enrolment to the The Master of Intellectual Property Law and Management (MIPLM) for the year 2011-2012 is open. Deadline for enrolment is October, 31, 2011.
This Master addresses students and practitioners with a minimum of three years experience in the Intellectual Property field.

Enrolment to the Double Degree Programme in Intellectual Property Law in Skopje
After a first successful year, we are pleased to inform you that enrolment for the second edition (2011/2012 academic year) of the Double Degree Programme in Intellectual Property Law offered by the The Ss. Cyril et Methodius University in Skopje, Macedonia, and the CEIPI, is open.
This innovative initiative includes a program in Skopje that concentrates mainly on the international and European aspects of intellectual property (industrial property, copyright, related rights and other affiliated disciplines), and is taught by academic staff from the CEIPI, from its partners of the EIPIN network and from the faculty in Skopje and from neighbouring countries (Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia).

June 14-24: WIPO/INPI/CEIPI Course on Legal, Administrative and Economic Aspects of Intellectual Property
This year, as in previous years, the CEIPI has organized between June 14 and 24, 2011 in collaboration with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) and the I.N.P.I. (Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle) a training course for officials of intellectual property offices in developing countries.
CEIPI welcomed representatives from the five continents for a course on Legal, Administrative and Economic Aspects of Intellectual Property, particularly by emphasizing themes linking intellectual property and development.

End of the Academic Year 2010-2011
The closing ceremony of the academic year for the "Patents" and the "Trademarks and Industrial Designs" tuition took place on June, 24 with the traditional ceremony of communication of results followed by the farewell party gathering some of the lecturers, students and the CEIPI team.
On this occasion, CEIPI payed tribute to Miss Antoinette Marage, Professor of English at the University of Strasbourg and at the CEIPI and who will retire this year.

Enforcement of intellectual property rights - Comment of the CEIPI on the evaluation report of the European Commission of December 22, 2010
The CEIPI has submitted observations on the evaluation report of the European Commission of December 22, 2010 concerning the application of the directive of April 29, 2004 on the enforcement of intellectual property rights in member states.
The report was written by Christophe Geiger, Associate Professor, Director General and Director of the Research Department of the CEIPI, Jacques Raynard, Professor at the University of Montpellier I and at the CEIPI and Caroline Rodà, Postdoctoral Research Fellow and member of the Research Department of the CEIPI.

Christophe Geiger, Director general of the CEIPI, will participate to the international conference "Global Congress on Public Interest Intellectual Property Law" organized by the American University Washington College of Lawaw to be held in Washington between August 25 and 27, 2011.
Christophe Geiger will take part to a round table and the topic of his lecture will be "The adjudication of fundamental rights in Europe: what contribution to IP reform?"

From 25th to 27th July, the ATRIP's 30th annual Congress will take place at Singapore on the topic "IP Law at the Crossroads of Trade".

Christophe Geiger, Director general of the CEIPI and Franck Macrez, Associate professor at the CEIPI, will take part to the 12th Libre Software Meeting to be held in Strasbourg from 9 to 14 July 2011.
Franck Macrez will take part on June, 12 to the round table "Software patentability: european focus".
Christophe Geiger will take part on June, 13 to the Keynotes « Regards juridiques sur le logiciel libre et ses déclinaisons : bilan et perspectives ». The topic of his lecture will be: "Facilitating creative uses: what reform for copyright in Europe?".

Christophe Geiger, Director general of the CEIPI, participated at the European Parliament in Brussels at a hearing in front of the european parliamentaries on the topic "Copyright and Intellectual Property in the Digital Age" which was held on June, 29 and 30 2011.
Christophe Geiger spoke on June, 30 2011 about "The Future of Intellectual property in Europe: What Role for the Legislator?".

Franck Macrez at the 6th Edition of the "'E-Learning Study Days"
Franck Macrez, Associate professor at the CEIPI, took part to the 6th edition of the "E-Learning Study Days" which were held on June 23 and 24, 2011 in Lyon. The topic of this year's symposium was "Teaching with e-learning , teaching the e-learning".
Franck Macrez did a presentation on June 23 on the topic "Must we protect our copyrights? ".

Christophe Geiger, Director general of the CEIPI, at the international seminar "Scenarios for Global Copyright Reform and Public Interest Intellectual Property"
Christophe Geiger, Director general of the CEIPI, participated at the international meeting "Scenarios for Global Copyright Reform and Public Interest Intellectual Property" organized by ICTSD in cooperation with the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property (PIJIP) at American University Washington College of Law, American Assembly (Columbia University) and the Fundação Getulio Vargas in Rio (Brazil) that was held on 17-19th June 2011, at the Domaine de Divonne (CH).
Christophe Geiger participated on saturday the 18th June 2011 to the panel "Issues and priorities for global copyright reform".

On June, 01st 2011, Christophe Geiger, Director general of the CEIPI participated at the European Parliament in Brussels at a hearing in front of the european parliamentaries on the topic "The Future of Copyright in the Digital Era".

Professor Alexander Wurzer at the Conference "Commercializing Innovation: Global Best Practice" at the Hongik University of Seoul
Within the framework of an agreement between the CEIPI and the Hongik University of Seoul (South Korea), Professor Alexander Wurzer, Adjunct Professor at the CEIPI and Director of studies of the "Master of Intellectual Property Law and Management" participated to the conference "Commercializing Innovation: Global Best Practice" which took place on March the 24th, 2011 in Seoul.
Thesis defence of Min-Cheng Chien: Study of the protection by patent of techniques related to semiconductors in Taiwanese and Chinese Law
We are pleased to announce that on April 21, 2011 Mr. Min-Cheng Chien defended his thesis written under the co-supervision of Joanna Schmidt-Szalewski, Professor emeritus at the University of Strasbourg and Shu-Yu Zeng, Professor at the National University of Defense, Republic of China, Taïwan. The subject was :
"Study of the protection by patent of techniques related to semiconductors in Taiwanese and Chinese Law".
The jury was composed of Mr. Jean-Michel Bruguiere, Professor at the University of Grenoble, Mrs Laure Marino, Professor at the University of Nancy 2 and Mr. Yves Reboul, Professor at the University of Strasbourg.
A CEIPI student is honoured
We are very pleased to inform you that on June 20, 2011, Mr. Daoud Salmouni, who is a PhD student at CEIPI under the supervision of Professor Yves Reboul and holder of the CEIPI diploma Master 2 in Intellectual Property, Contracts, Competition Law obtained in 2005-2006, was elected 4th secretary at the Conference of the internship of lawyers at the french "Conseil d'Etat" and "Cour de Cassation".
