Public

This course is intended for holders of a M1 in Private Law, European Law, International Law, Comparative Law or Business Law as well as for French or foreign lawyers wishing to specialize in intellectual property.

Prerequisites

This program is open to students in the basic program.

Requirements - Sudents should have:

  • completed a Master of Laws 1 in private law,
  • completed during their university studies the following topics:
    • Law of obligations (acts and juridically significant facts)
    • Property Law
    • Intellectual Property Law
    • Special Contracts
    • Criminal Law
    • Business Law
    • Civil Procedure
    • Criminal Proceeding
  • a good grasp of English.

Foreign students, whether they come from the EU or not, must fulfill the conditions listed below. A good command of French is required of foreign students: various forms of proof are accepted.

Application and Admission

Submission of applications for the academic year 2022/2023 will be open between Mars 15 and May 15, 2022.

Educational objectives

The objective of the program is to educate legal practitioners in intellectual property law and specifically in industrial property law, in contract law, in transfer of technology law and in competition law for the following professions:

The aim is to offer students a theoretical and practical education that will enable them to master:

  1. Protection of creative works

    • protection of creative works
    • acquisition of industrial property titles : substantive patent law and national, European and international application procedures for patents, industrial designs and distinctive signs
  2. Valuation

    • defending rights
    • valuation of rights : contracts, transfer of technology, taxation of intellectual property
    • French and European competition law, abuse of dominance

The objective of this program is to enable legal practitioners to become specialists of intellectual property on a regional, national, European and international level.

The program includes a mandatory two month internship with a company as well as the presentation of a research paper concerning intellectual property law.

Note that most of the courses are in french, except for a few of them which are in english.

Learning outcomes

At the end of their training, students will be able to:

  • master and apply intellectual property law in all its branches,

  • manage portfolios of distinctive signs and industrial creations,

  • negotiate and draft contracts relating to intellectual property rights, taking into account the economic issues related to creations and distinctive signs,

  • ensure the defense of intellectual property rights.

Programme

  • UE 1 - International Intellectual Property Law (6 ECTS)
  • UE 2 - Protection of intellectual creations and handling of disputes (21 ECTS)
  • UE 3 - Modern languages (3 ECTS)
  • UE 4 - Protection of distinctive signs and handling of disputes (12 ECTS)
  • UE 5 - Valuation of rights (12 ECTS)
  • UE 6 - Internship and research paper (6 ECTS)

Teaching methods

Traditional courses, tutorials (preliminary work and class discussion), lectures, seminars, conferences, round tables.

Course material

Course materials are made available to students in electronic format and in the form of photocopies for the exercises and practical work to be done.

Type of training and certification

This training constitutes an adaptation and development of skills. It leads to a national Master's degree in "Law, Economics and Management", with a specialization in Intellectual Property Law, Program: Intellectual Property Law and Valuation of intangible assets, subject to compliance with the evaluation of knowledge and skills, which are made known to the students.

Duration

1 year.

Timetable

As an indication, the courses take place from Monday to Friday in the following time slots: from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00. Exceptionally, classes may be held on Saturdays. In addition, students attend scientific conferences/events throughout the year which may take place after class.
