Public

This course is intended for holders of a M1 in Private Law, European Law, International Law, Comparative Law or Business Law as well as for French or foreign lawyers wishing to specialize in intellectual property.

Prerequisites

This program is open to students in the basic program.

Requirements - Sudents should have:

  • completed a Master of Laws 1 in private law,
  • completed during their university studies the following topics:
    • Law of obligations (acts and juridically significant facts)
    • Property Law
    • Intellectual Property Law
    • Special Contracts
    • Criminal Law
    • Business Law
    • Civil Procedure
    • Criminal Proceeding
  • a good grasp of English.

Foreign students, whether they come from the EU or not, must fulfill the conditions listed below. A good command of French is required of foreign students: various forms of proof are accepted.

Application and Admission

Submission of applications for the academic year 2022/2023 will be open between Mars 15 and May 15, 2022.

Educational objectives

The purpose of the Intellectual Property Law and Cultural Activities program is to provide students with both academic and practical training that meets the needs of all intellectual property professionals. The courses will focus on the legal mechanisms for reserving intellectual creations, their valuation and their defense in the event of infringement of the intellectual property rights protecting them. The objective is to provide students with a global legal culture that will enable them to master the complexity of positive intellectual property law and its future developments. Students will be able to meet the needs of organizations, institutions and companies whose mission is to ensure the development of audiovisual shows and media events.

Note that most of the courses are in french, except for a few of them which are in english.

Learning outcomes

At the end of their training, students will be able to:

  • Master and apply the regulations in the field of intellectual property, new technologies and the Internet

  • Advise and inform the various actors involved in the literary and artistic property sector (copyright, performers' and producers' rights)

  • Valuing intellectual property rights by negotiating contracts on behalf of authors, producers and collecting societies

  • To defend the rights of authors, performers and all producers.

  • UE 1 - International Intellectual Property Law (6 ECTS)
  • UE 2 - Legal Mechanims of Reservation of Creations of the Mind (21 ECTS)
  • UE 3 - Modern languages (3 ECTS)
  • UE 4 - Legal and Financial Mechanims of Valorization of Creations of the Mind (12 ECTS)
  • UE 5 - Media law (12 ECTS)
  • UE 6 - Internship and research paper (6 ECTS)

Teaching methods

Traditional courses, tutorials (preliminary work and class discussion), lectures, seminars, conferences, round tables.

Course material

Course materials are made available to students in electronic format and in the form of photocopies for the exercises and practical work to be done.

Type of training and certification

This training constitutes an adaptation and development of skills. It leads to a national Master's degree in "Law, Economics and Management", with a specialization in Intellectual Property Law, Program: Intellectual Property Law and Cultural Activities, subject to compliance with the evaluation of knowledge and skills, which are made known to the students.

Duration

1 year.

Timetable

As an indication, the courses take place from Monday to Friday in the following time slots: from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00. Exceptionally, classes may be held on Saturdays. In addition, students attend scientific conferences/events throughout the year which may take place after class.
